Avocado Face Mask Recipe

½ avocado

1 tablespoon of honey

A handful of porridge oats

Method

Mash the avocado to a softer consistency, then blend in the honey finally sprinkling on oats for texture. Soothe onto the skin and leave for 15 minutes. Rinse away. Great to use as a weekly skin treat. Honey is an excellent humectant helping moisture without making skin feel oily

Mindfulness

The insanity and uncertainty caused by the virus can be remedied by a few simple exercises. Mindfulness is the practice of bringing the mind back to the present and live in the moment, listen to the bird sing, hear the tap drip and bring your mind back to a steady calm way of thinking by taking a deep calming breath. As than ever mental health is at the forefront of the news and our Goddiva Girls need to remember their worth, be kind to themselves and take time to recharge their batteries both mentally and physically in this emotionally testing period. Breathing exercises, yoga and some fantastic apps like Headspace become invaluable in a predicament like the UK finds itself in currently. Apps like Headspace are great to use in your mindfulness practice.

Fresh Air

Hang out that washing, walk the dog, post a letter, open windows and doors and breathe in the spring air. So open windows and patio doors have some air. If you aren’t blessed with a garden use a window box to grown small plants and herbs to bring the outside in and encourage you to sniff the air. Deep breaths are calming and tackle anxiety.

Cooking

Store cupboard stables are really coming into play during this period. Food with a long-life span and items everyone has in the back of the kitchen storeroom are exactly what’s needed now, comforting, homemade food.

Saucy Sausage Pasta

1 tbsp olive oil

Pkt of 8 pork sausages cut into chunky pieces

1 large onion, chopped

2 garlic cloves, crushed

1 tbsp chilli powder

400g can chopped tomatoes

300g short pasta such as fusilli or penne

Method

1.Boil a large pan of water.

2.Heat a tablespoon of oil into a large saucepan and fry the chunky pieces of sausage until golden brown.

3.Turn down heat on the frying pan and add a large chopped onion and 2 garlic cloves, cook these until they turn soft.

4.Stir in 1 tbsp chilli powder and 400g chopped tomatoes with the sausages, bring the sauce to the boil then turn down the heat and let it simmer for 10 minutes while you cook the pasta.

2oz Bacardi 1oz Rum Freshly ground mint leaves Fresh lime juice Dash of lemon and lime soda Teaspoon of sugar Wedge of lime to garnish

Method

Wet the rim of a chilled glass and dip into the sugar. Mix the ingredients together, strain into the glass and drop a wedge of lime.

Virgin; Gin – free G &T

3 unwaxed lemons, roughly chopped

140g caster sugar

1 litre cold water

Method

Tip the lemons, sugar and half the water into a food processor and blend until the lemon is finely chopped. Pour the mixture into a sieve over a bowl, then press through as much juice as you can. Top up with the remaining water and serve with plain ice or frozen slices of lemon and lime.
