What NOT to Wear at a Wedding?
One of the most fun things when receiving a wedding invite is planning the perfect wedding outfit, but you might be surprised to know that there are some rules of etiquette you'll need to follow if you don't want to make a major wedding gaffe! Make sure your wedding guest outfit is remembered for being fabulous not a faux pas with our guide of what not to wear at a wedding.
Don't Go Over the Top
A wedding is a great excuse to dress up and have some fun, but don't forget, this is the bride and groom's big day - not yours. You don't want to wear something so flamboyant or eye-catching that you draw attention away from the happy couple - don't be surprised if you're hidden away at the back of wedding photos if your outfit is more extravagant than the bride's...! Go for an elegant dress in a single colour, and keep the accessories understated - a fascinator is a great alternative to an oversized hat if you're not the mother of the bride!

Don't Show Too Much Skin!
You might have the perfect figure hugging bandage mini dress in your wardrobe that you've been waiting an occasion to wear, but we're sorry to tell you that a wedding is not that occasion! Bear in mind that many weddings take place in religious centres, and even if it's a secular affair it's still a family event so it's probably best if you don't go too sexy...! However, that's not to say that you can't show some skin, but make sure you mix things up. Go for a long sleeve, high neck mini dress if you want to show off your legs, or a maxi dress with a deep v-neck if you want to show a little cleavage...

Ditch the Heels
Okay, so it's not a social blunder to wear heels at a wedding (far from it!) but you're going to be on your feet much of the day, and nobody wants to see your discarded shoes under the table as you end up barefoot on the dance floor! Whatever height heels you decide to go for, it's all about comfort - wide fit shoes are a great option on hot Summer wedding days as they'll give your feet room to breathe and you won't have to worry about swelling. And avoid stiletto heels - you don't want to be sinking into the lawn during the wedding photos!

DON'T WEAR WHITE
The biggest No-No of them all - NEVER wear white to a wedding. If you don't want to earn yourself some scathing side-eye from the blushing bride avoid wearing white, cream, ivory or pale blush - any outfit that could have you confused with the bride is definitely out. On the plus side, here at Goddiva we have a huge selection of stunning gowns in bold colours to flatter every shape - and you can be sure you'll still be BFF's with the bride at the end of the day!
